Acknowledgements
With appreciation for all the work that has gone before us in understanding and developing a trust based relationship model for adoptive families and children, Gladney's Pathways Team gratefully acknowledges:
First -
Drs. Karyn Purvis and David Cross, of Texas Christian University's Institute for Child Development in Fort Worth, TX, for their ground-breaking research that led to the development of the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and their book, The Connected Child, both of which have provided the foundation upon which we have built The Gladney Center's Pathways Training for healthy adoptive families. We are personally indebted to you both for your encouragement, wisdom, and support, and feel fortunate to call you neighbors and friends.
Second -
The many families and children we have been honored to serve. Your resilience, commitment, strength, and insight continue to inspire and inform us in our work. Our work with you has guided us in every step as we have developed the Pathways curriculum. Thank you for generously sharing your challenges and triumphs with us and with future families.
Third -
Other leading researchers and psychologists around the nation, as well as the many clinicians, social workers, international pediatricians, occupational therapists, researchers, and other colleagues we feel privileged to walk alongside. We are so appreciative of the shared body of knowledge and experiences that have informed all of our efforts to create and support healthy families.
Fourth -
Four Dallas/Fort Worth-based private foundations who shared the vision developed by Gladney's Family Services of a new wraparound training/counseling service for parents adopting older children, and who provided the funding to transform the vision into a trust-based relationship model for healthy parenting that we now call Pathways. Thank you for making this possible.
If you have any questions or would like more information on how you, as a parent, can nurture your relationship with your child, contact the Family Services Department at Gladney at familyservices@gladney.org.
