Humanitarian Aid - China
Part of Gladney's mission is to provide assistance to children in Chinese orphanages. Over the past several years Gladney and Gladney families have provided infant formula, helped rebuild a flood-devastated orphanage, arranged for the donation of hundreds of thousands of pairs of children's shoes, and brought children for visits to the United States.

Infant Formula Program
In China, the Baby Formula Project helps buy baby formula and ship it to the orphanages. The babies in the recipient orphanages are growing healthy. The project currently only assists infants as most of the infants will be adopted by international families. Gladney started this project three years ago, and it has been expanding every year with donations from Gladney families and support by charitable organizations such as Yahoo! Employees Foundation. Yahoo! Employees Foundation gave $15,000 last year, and has committed to giving $5,000 for this year. A couple of family foundations have also participated in this project. Gladney hopes to expand the baby formula project every year, depending on the resources available.

Little Angels Camp
The Gladney Center for Adoption recently held its first Little Angels Camp. In June 2002, 10 children from The Tianjin and Shanghai Children's Welfare homes in China visited the United States as a cultural adventure and vacation. The children spent three weeks visiting New Jersey, New York, Washington, D.C. and Texas.

The children first stopped in Southern New Jersey where they visited a McDonalds, a museum and made a trip to the beach. Then on to New York for a museum tour and Washington, D.C. for a visit to the national zoo. Finally, they headed to Fort Worth. While here, they visited the Fort Worth Zoo and attended a cookout at Gladney.

Gladney is the first adoption agency in the country to host children from China.

Yingtan Province Orphanage
In 1997 a series of severe floods washed away the orphanage in Yingtan Province. The Chinese Government provided the orphanage with a temporary site, land for the new orphanage, and about half the funds necessary to construct and equip the new orphanage. Gladney and Gladney families elected to adopt this orphanage and to assist with its reconstruction.
